We are so thrilled that you have come to visit our site! Here at The Rustic Sunflower I use the word "we" but I am just a one woman team located in the Foothills of North Carolina. Since my very first job, at the age of 16, I have worked in retail and customer service. I spent 9 years with a large department store with almost 6 of those years in management. Currently, I am working at my fathers small business which puts me in a male dominated industry from co-workers to suppliers to the customers. Upon taking that job I knew I still wanted to do something with fashion and clothes so I decided to take a major leap of faith and start my own boutique on the side. Some time ago I felt impressed of The Lord to start a blog. I've written one or two partially and have several ideas for others but have not fully embraced it yet. I want my site to be an outlet... an escape - from the world, from stress, from life's heavy load. A place where you can shop (get a little retail therapy) but also be encouraged. As women in a modern society we have so many different standards that we attempt to live up to and when we fail we feel defeated, or maybe we deem ourselves as unworthy. Here's where I find my comfort when I feel dark thoughts of comparison creeping in: I reflect on  this... There is a Creator who made me and He gave me every flaw that I have. His acceptance and love means more to me than of anyone else in the Universe. He accepted me while knowing the deepest, darkest, worst parts of me that no one else knew. My prayer is for women to come here to this page and be able to release for a little bit - shop, read scripture and read what the Lord has put on my heart to share with you all.
